Miami’s culinary scene continues to explode. The latest addition is a new concept called 1-800-Lucky, located at 143 NW 23rd Street. It features an Asian marketplace, karaoke bar, record and convenience store. Two of Coyo Tacos founders, Sven Vogtland and Alan Drummond, partnered with Gaby Chirinoga to open this upscale food court and garden. There are seven restaurants, mixing local and national names. This 10,000 indoor/outdoor square foot space and music venue, showcases Myumi for sushi (the food truck guy), Hayoto Miami, from Japan, for ramen, Lotus and Cleaver, a New York outpost, for wok dishes, Chinese bbq, and Peking duck, Banh Mi, the only spot with non-Asian roots, by Scott Linquist of Coyo Taco and the former Olla, for Vietnamese sandwiches with a French twist. Yip, for dim sum, Poke OG, from California and Taiyaki, from New York, known for it’s Instagram worthy fish shaped Japanese ice cream waffles.
This buzzing marketplace opened on November 28, 2017 and is already a hangout for locals and tourists alike. You must enter through Lucky Records, a new vinyl shop, selling rare LP’s, which leads to the food hall. This hidden marketplace, with live DJ, has neon lights, greenery, lucky cats, paper lanterns and a happy vibe.
It has always been difficult to find good Asian food. Now you can find it under one roof. Just be prepared for crowding and lineups. But that makes it part of the fun.
