If you are looking for an authentic, fresh and moderately priced Thai meal, I can recommend Baan Phadthai.
From the moment you enter this dramatically stunning establishment, you know you’re in for a special evening.
The newly opened Jia Restaurant in Miami turns into a late-night entertainment venue on the weekends which might be nice to enjoy a drink from the bar. Personally, I would avoid eating here if you are looking to indulge in some standout Chinese food.
Coral Gables seems to be getting some excellent restaurants of late, and you can add another one to my hit list. There is no better restaurant in Miami right now serving dim sum and Izakaya than Zitz Sum.
I’m back recommending my favourite new and notable Miami restaurants along with my tried and true choices for ShaneaSavours 2021 Hit List.
Bold, dynamic, exhilarating and complex, are some of the words to describe the tantalizing flavours of the dishes we savoured at Toronto’s new hot spot, Mimi Chinese.
The Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong provides you with a luxury level of facilities in the heart of the city. It sets new standards in Asia and abroad for ultra-chic accommodations and customer service that’s unparalleled.
I have always longed for delivery from upscale and delicious purveyors. Unfortunately, it took a pandemic for eateries in Toronto to bring delivery and takeout to the masses. Here is my latest list of restaurants in Toronto offering takeout and or delivery.
In the hope people are continuing to support local eateries and caterers by ordering takeout or delivery from participating restaurants, I’ve created a second edition of my favourite spots in Toronto for takeout / delivery.
I have shared some of my favourite places in Miami open for takeout or delivery during the Covid-19 social isolation quarantine. Many of these establishments need our support now more than ever.
Hutong Restaurant in Miami also has locations in Hong Kong, Beijing, London, and New York. It may be one of Miami’s top spots for Chinese food.
Mott 32 in Hong Kong is a no brainer if you are looking for carefully crafted dishes, great flavours, and classic dishes with some refreshing twists with a farm to table ethos.
Balloo Restaurant in Miami serves rich, unique cooking that combines flavours from the chef and his family’s diverse heritages. Every bite is exciting in a different way, and bursting with intense flavours.
The Rosewood Phnom Penh in Cambodia is the perfect hotel for the sophisticated traveler and is unmatched with every other hotel in the city. We were blown away with how lavish the hotel was.

Alma Restaurant in Toronto is unpretentious, approachable, and delicious, with an eclectic menu. Chef Anna Chen is producing a larger than life winning formula.
If you value attentive, smart service in a sophisticated setting with playful and tasty food, I think you will enjoy Akira Back in Toronto.
Palmar is a welcome addition to Wynwood. It’s a fun, unfussy, and appealing place. The selections are creative, fashionable, and current, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Best when Chef Diaz is in the house!
1-800-Lucky in Wynwood, Miami is a buzzing marketplace is already a hangout for locals and tourists alike. It has always been difficult to find good Asian food. Now you can find it under one roof. Just be prepared for crowding and lineups. But that makes it part of the fun.
I may be away from Toronto this winter, but I am still keeping tabs on new restaurants. Look forward to you letting me know what you think about these about these as well as anything I should try on my return!
It’s hard to pigeonhole the cuisine at Restaurante Triciclo in Madrid but it’s easy to love. The food captures a multicultural spirit, with Spanish, Peruvian, Chinese and Italian dishes. They push the boundaries and serve well prepared and attractively presented dishes.
Shoushin Restaurant in Toronto only uses the best, purest and most authentic ingredients. The chef’s methods are very exacting and you can taste the difference, with wild caught fish and handmade wasabi.
What else does a Jew do on Christmas Day when everything else is closed? Go for Chinese food, natch! Tropical Chinese is the real deal. It’s authentic Chinese cooking, where everything is hand-crafted from scratch, since 1984.
We had dinner at the Bird and Bone, under the tutelage of Chef Richard Hales. He is the chef who also helms Blackbrick and Sakarya Kitchen. Hales’ interpretation of American cuisine takes it to another level. I prefer this restaurant to Yardbird.
Brooklyn’s Paulie Gee’s has come to Miami. The crust is thin, but not soggy, and nicely charred and tender, just the way I like it. Every month they collaborate with another restaurant to incorporate what they are known for into a pizza.
People’s Eatery in Toronto is fun, trendy and delicious! A great place to come with a few people so you can order lots of dishes. They are doing a bang up job with their diverse eclectic menu by Dustin Gallagher (a former Top Chef contestant).
The Candy Bar is one of the best sources of candy and chocolate in Toronto. They offer unique treats you won’t find elsewhere. They offer a wide range of sugary delights, and you don’t have to be a kid to love these sweet thrills and yummy goodness. It is overwhelming but I guarantee the shop will delight.

It’s one of the better places in the entertainment district, but it was underwhelming and fell a bit short for me. I would still go back and I would try it for brunch as well. It has the potential to get much better and I hope it does. And it doesn’t seem to detract from customers – the place was buzzing on a weeknight.
Black Brick Midtown was one of our favourite new restaurants last year, so I thought it was worth returning again to see if the cooking and service still lived up to my expectations. I am happy to report that we had a delicious meal there.
The menu is divided into four sections. Crudo, small plates, rice and large format dishes. There is also a section called Binchotan service, where they grill meats, fish and seafood table-side.
Best old favourites and new loves.

Dailo restaurant in the former “Grace” space on College Street. They call this new Asian cuisine and we were very impressed. The staff is very knowledgable and helpful.
