James Beard award winner Michael Solomonov’s much anticipated and lauded hummus restaurant has come to Miami’s hippest neighbourhood, Wynwood, at 250 NW 24th Street. He initially opened in Philly, in 2014. He also has a busy location that I have previously written about in New York in the Chelsea Market. So I won’t go into full detail here, except to mention that this location has limited seating as well as take out. They have a lot of options for vegans and vegetarians, although there are some meat options as well. The light as air pitas are still baked up fresh in a hearth. Their freshly made hummus and tahini are creamy and dreamy. There are a number of rotating and seasonal garnishes, plus chopped Israeli salad, and local and craft beers to wash it all down.

The space is bright and airy with colourful tiled walls, a bright pink neon menu board, and floor to ceiling windows. There is a young and friendly staff to serve you. I liked how they use Philadelphia baseball cards for their food pick up numbering system.

They add a great shakshuka on Sundays only, a dish of eggs baked in a spicy tomato and pepper stew. They also brought their delicious frozen lemon and mint drink to this location. If you are still hungry for something sweet, you can go to Federals Donuts next door, which they own as well.

So glad to see Wynwood is serving elevated food at affordable prices.

Recommended and l’chaim.

Happy dining,
Shanea
