How do you spell Mediocre … Paramount Fine Foods :: Yorkville, Toronto

We were excited to have a new restaurant opened in our neighbourhood. They seemed to open overnight. The decor looked decent so we thought we would give it a try. I am sorry to report that we did not enjoy our meal. We sat down and they immediately said we had to move as we were blocking the way to the washrooms. Why place a table there in the first place?

They brought out a hot fresh baked bread similar in taste to a pita (they serve something very similar in Turkey). This was a good sign, but it was downhill from there.

The Hummus and Eggplant dips were served ice cold from the fridge instead of room temperature. The Hummus was on the sour side and the eggplant dip was too smokey for my liking. Honestly you can get much better dips at the Harvest Wagon just up the street. The mixed plate of beef and chicken Shwarma was dried out and tasteless. They serve it with a ball of garlic sauce that looked like Crisco. The fries that came with it were anemic. The Chicken Kebob was moist but had no taste.

There is a place called Mideastro around the corner on Yorkville that is SO much better that also serves Middle Eastern food. It may be twice the price but the quality is more than two times better. I am sure there are a lot of pita joints with better food as well. The food is bland and very mediocre.

Not recommended.

Happy dining,
Shanea
