Many people ask where I consider the best place to stay while visiting Capri. Without hesitation or a doubt my answer is always, JK Place Capri. Designed by über-designer, Michele Bonan, it boasts a location right on the water’s edge, with panoramic and breathtaking views of the bay of Naples in the distance, and its own Marina Grande. JK offers glamour, sophistication, style and seaside chic. The style reminds me of Ralph Lauren meets classic Italian meets the Hamptons – in a nautical yet contemporary theme. It has only 22 rooms and you feel like you are vacationing in someone’s private palazzo. Almost every room looks out to the sea or the garden. Each room is individually furnished, in a beautiful style and comes with a flat screen tv, and free goodies in the minibar. The service is personal, friendly and professional. GM Martino Acampora leads a great team, and I appreciate all the attention to detail, to making everyone feel special and to not only meeting my needs but exceeding them. I notice improvements to the property every year as well, and the place is always spotless. The staff here is outstanding, so much that there is too many to mention, but a shout out to Stefano, Gabriella, Nellie, Lina, Marta and Luciano.

JK has one of the largest pools on the island, with clean, comfy chairs and shade if needed. We are pampered at the pool by Michele, who looks after all our needs. The crowd is a great mix of young and older, from celebrities to jet setters to CEOs of Fortune 500 companies. There is also a small gym that was just upgraded this year, plus a spa. As you have guessed, this level of luxury doesn’t come cheaply. The rate includes a delicious buffet breakfast with hot items also available. The hotel serves a wonderful lunch, as well as dinner, under the talented Chef, Eduardo Estatico. I rarely feel the need to go to the FONTELINA beach club anymore for lunch. The kitchen is open all day long for you, and you can eat in the dining room or on the deck or under the stars. There is always and afternoon snack in the dining room where guests can help themselves. This year they also added huge jars of the most delicious candied almonds and hazelnuts, which you can also help yourself to. Oh, did I mention … the bar makes the best Bellini on the Island!

People ask me if I miss not being close to town, and I say not at all. I would rather be in an intimate, sophisticated and well-maintained resort and far from the maddening crowd. When I want the action I take their free Mercedes shuttle to town, which is a five minute ride.

I always say, the best places are the hardest to get to – JK is a 45 minute boat ride from Naples. However, you can always take a helicopter or a private boat to get here if it is in your budget.

I think this is one of the finest resorts in Europe and it is perfect for a honeymoon or romantic getaway. We cherish our stay here every year.

It is opened seasonally from April to mid-October. Book early!

Very highly recommended!

Happy Traveling,
Shanea
