Dining out during COVID is often an uncertain experience, especially in Miami’s relaxed atmosphere. It’s reassuring to see that establishments like The Four Seasons Hotel in Surfside take things seriously when it comes to creating a safe environment for guests. Maybe it’s their Canadian roots.

Respecting all protocols, I felt completely safe dining outside on the vast patio of the Lido Restaurant and Champagne Bar in the hotel at 9011 Collins Avenue. They made us feel so welcome and they were professional, courteous, and kid-friendly.

Previously Le Sirenuse, it has reopened under this new name. No longer associated with the fabled restaurant in Positano Italy, it is still under the helm of Chef Antonio Mermolia. The cuisine is still Italian, and the food is still beautifully prepared under his care. Serving his wonderful crudo, his delicious 72-hour fermented pizza, his delicate pasta dishes, and his mains from the land and sea, the menu is now accessed through a QR code to your phone.

Everything we ordered, from the sweet langoustine tartare and the Japanese hamachi crudo, to the truffle pizza with a perfect crust, was delightful. Our branzino, served with charred eggplant, and the organic chicken breast with pumpkin seeds and crispy quinoa, hit all the right notes. For dessert, there were five dolci items, the key lime pie, and upside-down peanut butter cheesecake, which met the approval of our discerning mini “critics” in attendance.

They offer the largest selection of champagnes in Miami, as well as an extensive wine list and some exciting mixology creations.

They take all safety precautions. All the staff wear their masks properly and at all times. This is not the case in many restaurants in Florida. They sanitize between seatings. They also provide sanitizer packets for all customers on the tables. Plus, distancing is maintained.

Dining inside looked very safe, as well. Only two tables were occupied under the soaring ceiling. Most guests chose the outdoor patio. The indoor dining area is definitely more elegant and refined. Outdoor has more of a beachy feel.

This place is a no-brainer for luxury, highly personal service, excellent cuisine, and adherence to safety guidelines.

Recommend.

Happy dining,
Shanea
