Two years new, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Milan is centrally located, a stones throw between the fashion district of Montenapoleone and Via Spiga in one direction and the La Scala Opera House, the Duomo and the Galleria in the other. The hotel is located on a quiet, discreet, side street on Via Andeguri 9. This is the first Italian outpost for this ultra luxe hotel chain. The hotel occupies four 18th Century buildings and has been magnificently restored with contemporary Italian furnishings and marbles, and natural materials. It took eight years to complete the construction. The hotel offers comfort, elegance, and style. It is a 5-star luxe property that houses two restaurants, one being the fabulous two-star Michelin restaurant, Seta, by award winning Chef Antonio Guida.

Plus, there is a holistic spa with six treatment rooms, an indoor pool, a fitness room, a hairdresser, full-service concierge (who were excellent) and two courtyards, one for eating and the other for socializing. The hotel was designed by Antonio Citterio, who also did the nearby Bulgari Hotel. Our room overlooked an inner courtyard and was very spacious, with exceptionally high ceilings, as it was on the first floor (which is second floor if you are North American). Others offer city views. The rooms come well equipped with Italian marble bathrooms with double sinks, large screen tv’s, and products by Dr. Vranjes. A couch, desk and chairs also added to our comfort.

All the staff go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. The hotel has 104 rooms and suites and the hotel is impeccably run by GM Lucca Finardi.

The stunning, black and white marble bar, and lounges as well as the courtyard is a swish hangout for the “beautiful” people. The only thing that I can criticize is the petite lobby, which was a little too minimalist and cool, for me.

All your senses will be pampered in this sumptuous, prestigious and stylish hotel.

Highly recommend.

Happy Travels,
Shanea
