The name Map Cafe was misleading for me. This is a refined dining establishment, not a cafe. Andean nouvelle cuisine, located in a crystal cube in the courtyard of the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art, in the Plaza Las Nazarenas. I assume this would also be appealing to try in the daytime as well, when it becomes a light-filled, smart conservatory, and can be combined with a visit to the museum. This contemporary restaurant offers an artistic, romantic, dining experiences, and was probably my favourite place for dinner in Cusco. It was also the one place in town that you could dress up, enjoy live harp music, and a candlelight dinner.

The service was not up to the same standards as the top restaurants in Lima, but they did try and emphasize elegant preparations of regional and international dishes. The tastiest thing we tried that evening was the truffle perfumed quinoa cannelloni.

The restaurant’s menu was created by Chef Coque Ossio, who trained under Alain Passard at Arpege in Paris. He has 6 restaurants in Cusco.
A fashionable and sophisticated option for Cusco.

Recommend.

Happy Dining,
Shanea
