Social Miami, Miami Beach Woman's Club and Creative EdgeOn January 25th, 2017 Melanie Cohen of Social Miami together with the Miami Beach Women’s Club and Creative Edge Parties, hosted an event to celebrate “A New Year in Miami PR”. Guests in PR, media and event planning were invited to mingle and network. The Miami Beach Women’s Club, at 2401 Pine Tree Drive, founded in 1926, and still in its original building (plus a few additions over the years), has now become an event space.

Under the umbrella of Social Miami the evening’s food was provided by Creative Edge Parties, with president and owner Carla Rubin and her event director Clark Beasley in attendance. The company is based in New York and for the last two years has opened in Florida servicing Palm Beach and Miami. They do high-end events like the Chanel Spring luncheon in Palm Beach and the lounges at Art Basel and Art Miami. They did an outstanding job of providing creative appetizers and desserts of the highest quality. Atlas rentals took care of the linens.

Susan Pallot of Source Miami provided us with our celebrated guest speaker, Lyn Pont. She spoke about how “Manners make Money”. A few key points were: the importance of appearance. Look like someone you would want to know. Eye contact is important, and keep your business cards up to date. Make sure you keep them handy at all times – in your car, gym bag, locker, and purses. You never know when you will meet a useful contact. And lastly, it is important to be nice and of service. Speak to strangers.

She closed by quoting Maya Angelou, “People don’t remember what you did or what you said, but they will remember how you made them feel”. Fun life lessons for all.
