For those of you who live in a bubble and don’t know what a Bundt cake is, it is a cake baked in a Bundt pan shaping it into a distinctive ring. It was inspired by a traditional European cake known as a Kugelhupf. It was popularized in North America in the 1950’s and 60’s.

Nothing Bundt Cakes was founded by lifelong friends Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz in 1997, after they had been baking for friends. Their company has grown nationwide into 260 franchise locations in the United States and Canada, and it continues to grow. Now their headquarters are in Dallas Texas, and only one of the founders, Dena Tripp is still involved as a board member.

When you use products like real eggs, butter and cream cheese and you sell these quality cakes in a variety of sizes and flavours, it doesn’t take long to get the word out.

Miami has three locations now, one in Kendall, one in Pinecrest, and lucky me, one close by in Aventura at 15400 Biscayne Blvd, Suite 112. They recently celebrated their grand opening, and owners Maggie and Jay Sicre warmly welcome you into their perfect little shop. Focusing on the warmth and nostalgia of its home kitchen roots, coupled with a modern and sophisticated approach and design, they are delivering joy one cake at a time. Their cakes are carefully crafted by hand with about nine classic flavours like chocolate chip, classic vanilla, red velvet, confetti, carrot, lemon, marble, white chocolate raspberry, and pecan praline. They also offer seasonal flavours for a limited time. They have a tray of bites to sample and I got to try a snickerdoodle one. It was dense, rich and super moist.

Their products range in size from bite-size to tiered cakes and platters. There are a selection of handcrafted decorations to top your cakes and make them festive for any celebration. The cakes stay fresh in the fridge for several days or you can freeze them without the frosting. You can conveniently place orders online, and have them delivered in boxes, or pick them up in store. We devoured our cake and can’t wait to give one for a hostess gift.

The Bundt cake is obviously not dead, in fact, it is a growing market that is delightfully warm, familiar and timeless.

Recommend.

Happy dining,
Shanea
