We mourned the closing of Adrianna’s on Harding Avenue two years ago. Not only was it the best Peruvian food, it happened to also have a fantastic chef, Chef German Gonzales. We always wondered what happened to him …

Well our prayers have been answered. Gonzales has opened a new spot called O’Lima nearby, on Kane Concourse in Bay Harbour Islands. The good news is this restaurant is even better! Right now it is open 7 days a week for dinner and only Saturday and Sunday’s for lunch, but they may increase days open for lunch depending the season. The decor is pleasant, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the music is lovely. Gonzales comes out throughout the evening to greet his guests. He takes great pride in his work, and it shows.

We started our meal with “Pisco Sours” a traditional Peruvian cocktail that is so goooood! I had the Ceviche Misto and David had the Grilled Ceviche, a dish that the Chef invented for his wife who doesn’t eat raw fish. Both were excellent choices. My sampler consisted of mussels, shrimp, calamari and fish. They were all fresh and delicious. I have had this dish at various restaurants, but the Chef’s preparation here is my favorite. David’s ceviche was fantastic, with a little kick to it. Both dishes were served with sweet potato and large Peruvian corn. Gonzales’ Tiraditos of tuna and salmon are also good. Then we shared a fantastic creamy, truffled quinoa dish with shrimp, also available with a choice of lobster or vegetarian style, with mushrooms. The flavor and texture of this dish was out of this world.

For dessert we had Quattro Leche cake which was lovely. So happy to have a great  Peruvian restaurant in the “nabe”. Now we don’t have to schlep downtown to eat at Le Mar or other places, which are not as good.

We have a winner here. Highly recommended!

Happy dining,

Shanea
