We were overwhelmed with the beauty and detail of this fabulous city resort. We were in a safe and beautiful part of Johannesburg. Everything from the grounds, the art work, the pool and restaurants were first rate. Our room was unbelievable. We booked a villa, which turned out to be a 2,500 sq. foot room. It was decorated in the most beautiful taste.

The amenities were excellent and very generous. The bathtub, showers and sinks had full bottles of Molton Brown products for him and for her. There were phones on each side of the bed, the bathroom, the desk etc. Waste baskets everywhere. The living room had a full complimentary basket of treats and a fridge full of complimentary drinks. We also had a powder room in addition the full bathroom and a kitchen as well. We could dine or swim in the villa complex or swim and eat in the main hotel. We chose to eat breakfast in the main hotel as it was huge and elaborate display of food, and I might add delicious. We ate in the regular dining room for dinner as the fine dining room was unfortunately closed that evening. However, we have no complaints. The service was excellent as was the food.

We also tried the spa and had lovely treatments.

The Saxon Hotel is where Nelson Mandela stayed in after his release and wrote his memoirs.

Our only complaint is we wish we could have stayed here a few more days. This was one of the best experiences we have had in a hotel anywhere.
