I decided to write a review of an oldie but a goodie. Scaramouche has been a consistently good restaurant for over 3 decades. It is one of the truly classic iconic restaurants of Toronto. When you have a special occasion to celebrate there are not a lot of restaurants that come to mind. Scaramouche never disappoints. Keith Froggett knows current trends. His food is fresh, the presentation is beautiful and the food is sophisticated and delicious. There is attention to detail in the preparation and everything is perfectly cooked. In my humble estimate, Keith is one of Toronto’s top chefs.

To top this off, the view of Toronto is beautiful and I always try to request a window table. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. The wine list is good, but I like the fact that you can bring your own for a fairly reasonable price.

We tried a lot of dishes that evening and I photographed a few. The Scallops were a special and were perfectly cooked. Zucchini flowers are in season, and these were deep fried and stuffed with a delicious cheese mixture. The Tuna Crudo was light, fresh and dressed to perfection. The Pasta Special has always been an outstanding choice and ours did not disappoint, with a wonderful variety of mushrooms. The Halibut was good but the Trout was absolutely fantastic. The Rack of Lamb is also a great choice.

Of course the Coconut Cream Pie is still a stellar choice, you just can’t go wrong.

It was a memorable meal. Still highly recommended.
Happy dining.
