The Brain Project Exclusive Sneak Peek Party @ Bulgari :: Yorkdale, Toronto

Dynamic co-chairs Jessica and Ben Mulroney and Erica and Noah Godfrey invited guests to a swank party and a sneak peek of what is to come with the Brain Project in Toronto last night. People dressed to impress came out to the new Bulgari store at Yorkdale Shopping Centre to check out fabulous jewels from the famous Italian jewelry house, and learn about this new initiative. Jessica, Ben, Erica and Noah, a young and enthusiastic group, have put together an influential and diverse committee that will shape this ambitious, unique and meaningful project. Sarah Rafferty from the TV show, Suits, was there modeling an unbelievable Bulgari necklace.

With the help of over 100 artists, celebrities, architects and designers, they are creating brain sculptures that will be displayed in public exhibitions throughout Toronto this June, July, and August. After exhibiting the pieces will be sold to sponsoring organizations and collectors worldwide. Last night they unveiled the first sculpture by Montreal artist Pascale Girardin and sponsored by Bulgari. She was flown by the company to Rome so she could see firsthand what this magnificent house designs. Choosing their brand colour emerald green and gold, her sculpture of smooth round discs does justice in representing the iconic brand. It’s exquisite, and now on display in the store.

Nathalie Diamantis of Bulgari, flew in from New York to oversee the evening. Champagne was flowing and Chef Victor Barry of PIANO PIANO was there to greet guests and supervise the wonderful hors d’oeuvres being passed around.

Proceeds from the wonderful project will help support care and research for Alzheimer’s and age-related dementia at Baycrest Health Services, which is a world leader in brain health and aging.
Some of the artists selected to produce designs in their chosen medium are: Mr. Brainwash, Gina Godfrey, Kim Kardashian, David Drebin, Ranier Langeman, Barry Ortetsky, Charles Pachter, and George Pimental. The public will vote on their top 5 choices.

Alzheimer’s and dementia are among the greatest health concerns of our times. In Canada over 750,000 people suffer from age-related brain disease and the number is only growing, and it seems to touch almost every family. This initiative will serve as a vehicle to raise awareness and funds for brain health using public art as a platform.

“No brain deserves to go blank.”
