I have stayed often at the J.K. Hotel chain in Capri and have been smitten with their service and design. So you can imagine my delight a few years ago when J.K. decided to open a location in the heart of the heart of historic Rome on a quiet cobbled street and near the epicenter of designer shopping heaven. It is close to the fashionable Via Condotti, Spanish steps, Pantheon, Trevi fountain and Piazza Navona. It is a peaceful haven to return to after shopping or exploring the city. Even more importantly, my favourite GM (don’t be jealous!), Samuel Porreca, has been in charge since its inception. From my first stay in 2013, I claimed J. K. Place Rome to be THE best hotel in Rome. Now they have been recognized and awarded the 2016 World’s Best Award for hotels in Rome by Travel and Leisure, which they so highly deserve.

Located in a former school of architecture that’s been transformed into the thirty-three room magnificent, dream boutique hotel with the creative support of architect Michele Bonan. The space has been transformed into a truly stunning hotel. The decor is spectacular, and done in a contemporary and tasteful way. I would say it uses some classic Italian style along with bold modernist influences. Its location, quality of service and gorgeous public rooms, as well as bedrooms, trumps all the competition in Rome. The hotel was featured in a sixteen page spread in the 2014 issue of Architectural Digest. The rooms are decked out, some with canopy beds, the most gorgeous Italian marble bathrooms, the finest linens, flat screen tv’s and iPhone docks. Every space is well appointed. I like that it is a small property, and the staff get to know you, and seem to anticipate your every need, plus the location is so discreet. You wouldn’t even know it is a hotel from the street, you have to user a buzzer to gain entrance. The rooms are quiet for this noisy city and that is a rarity in Rome.

The rates are high here for all this luxury, but buffet breakfast, as well as, hot breakfast dishes are included in the rates, and there is a beautiful array of food. The restaurant also serves a wonderful lunch and dinner, that features Italian as well as International dishes. It may be one of the only places in Rome to get a good American hamburger. Guests can also help themselves to free drinks and snacks in their rooms. There is no gym or rooftop bar yet, as it is tough to get permits in the eternal city, but they are in the plans.

Forbes Travel said this hotel is a triple threat and I have to agree. It has a stellar location, an abundance of style and a staff that exudes warm hospitality. If you are seeking a unique and indulgent city experience in a superb locale, the J.K. Place Roma is unsurpassed in Rome.

Very highly recommended.

Happy traveling,
Shanea
