If you want a relaxed spot with a scenic view, lively music, and great food, visit Gramps Getaway at 3301 Rickenbacker Causeway in Key Biscayne, Florida. It’s a laid-back, come-as-you-are waterfront bar overlooking the Rickenbacker Marina and downtown Miami. The vibe channels Key West, with wooden floors, the scent of saltwater, a thatched roof, and a ’70s playlist. Board shorts, flip-flops, bathing suits, and cover-ups are all welcome.
Gramps Getaway is the sister restaurant to Gramps in Wynwood, but this location feels like a hidden gem for both tourists and locals. The views are stunning and the menu is diverse. Highlights included the warm lobster roll in brown butter on a soft bun, and a refreshing watermelon salad with cucumber, nuoc cham vinaigrette, basil, and roasted peanuts.
From the weekly specials, the hogfish shone—served in a zesty yuzu kosho and lime sauce, topped with sweet Homestead mango. The grilled octopus salad had little octopus and too many hearts of palm and confit potatoes. Conversely, the charred broccoli salad offered layers of flavor—pickled chili, tangy buttermilk ranch, and garlic-shallot dressing. The burgers at the next table looked worth trying next time. The menu also includes crudos, prawns, wings, sandwiches, ribs, and steak.
The bar is fully stocked, offering a wide selection of beers and frozen cocktails. Gramps Getaway is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, with both boat access and valet parking available for $7. With its great food, easygoing vibe, and warm service, it’s a perfect spot for a post-beach hangout or to watch the sun set over the city with a frozen drink in hand.
Recommended.
Happy dining,
