If you’re looking for a sexy, glamorous, and luxurious new spot in Wynwood, consider checking out Sparrow Italia, located at 255 NW 25th Street. This is the latest venture from the Noble 33 Hospitality Group, known for blending Italian and Mediterranean flavors with an upscale, vibrant atmosphere. With a sister location in London frequented by celebrities, Sparrow brings its own star-studded allure to Miami.
The space is undeniably stunning, offering 8,700 square feet of high-ceilinged elegance. The design features carved wood arches, brass accents, plush velvet fabrics, and lush greenery, creating a sultry yet sophisticated ambiance. Dim lighting adds to the mood, and the crowd is as young and glamorous as the setting. Named after Italy’s national bird, Sparrow Italia captures an opulent, cosmopolitan vibe.
The menu focuses on Italian classics with Mediterranean influences. Highlights from the appetizers include the flavorful Wagyu meatball topped with whipped ricotta and basil, and a selection of cold starters like carpaccios, tartare, and salads. Unfortunately, not everything impressed me—our artichoke and parmesan salad was a letdown, with pickled artichokes instead of fresh ones.
For sharing, the menu offers pastas and pizzas. The truffle cacio e pepe had a rich, earthy flavor but was slightly overcooked. Among the main courses, the bone-in ribeye was flavorful though somewhat overdone, while the grilled branzino with pistachios was a standout in the seafood section. Sides were hit-or-miss; the baked spaghetti squash with tomatoes and mozzarella, intended as an accompaniment, oddly arrived with our appetizers, and the crispy potatoes were only brought to the table after we had finished eating—despite us flagging their absence to our server, who seemed unapologetic.
Unfortunately, the hospitality and service left much to be desired. The practice of requiring all orders upfront seems more focused on quick turnovers than on enhancing the dining experience.
Dessert options included indulgent choices like a hazelnut rocher with crispy feuillantine and Nutella cream, alongside a refreshing trio of gelato and sorbet, that we chose. The drink program emphasizes Italian wines and spirits, complemented by classic and modern cocktails with Miami-inspired twists—think a Coconut Aperol Spritz and inventive Negroni variations. The wine list balances Italian and American selections, making it a strong component of the overall experience. The bar and lounge were packed all night long.
One of Sparrow’s highlights is the live music, which starts around 8 PM. While the sultry performances elevate the mood, the brief three-song sets followed by long breaks feel underwhelming for the energy they promise.
Located in the heart of a restaurant-heavy neighborhood, Sparrow is undeniably a place to see and be seen. However, the luxury comes with a price—valet parking costs a steep $50, with waits of up to 30 minutes to retrieve your car unless you shell out $100 for priority parking up front.
Sparrow Italia is a visually striking restaurant that delivers a modern take on Italian dining. While the food isn’t particularly ambitious or unforgettable, and the service could use some serious refinement, it’s a venue that caters to those with deep pockets who are seeking a lively night out where style takes precedence over substance.
Happy dining!
