Shanea’s Favourite tried and true restaurants:
In no particular order...
- Elastika: Miami’s most beautiful restaurant serving eclectic dishes, in the Design District.
- Vice Versa: a great aperitivo bar by the Jaguar Sun group.
- Tam Tam: Vietnamese restaurant in downtown Miami.
- Ghee Indian Kitchen: I will drive anywhere for chef Niven Patel’s modern Indian cooking, but thankfully he is opening a second outpost in Wynwood, coming soon.
- La Natural: still makes my favourite sourdough crust pizza.
- Boia De: Michelin starred casual Italian eatery.
- Walrus and Rodeo: same owners as Boia De, and create delicious woodfire cuisine.
- Entre Nos: I discovered this gem last year and was not surprised when they received a Michelin star, serving local and seasonal cuisine.
- Palma: it is worth the drive to Little Havana for this culinary gem with an ever-changing 7-course tasting menu.
- Tambourine Room: My go-to place for special occasions. A Michelin-star fine dining, 18-seat beautiful room, serving French cuisine with Asian influences.
- Stubborn Seed: It has been on this list every year I’ve been doing it. Michelin star chef Jeremy Ford creates modern, contemporary seasonal American dishes that I love.
- Motek: easy, fast, and delicious Israeli and Mediterranean food, now with several locations.
- Maccialina: serving delicious rustic Italian food
- Portosole: Italian in Coral Gables.
- Fiola: Michelin-worthy Italian in Coral Gables, with a great wine list.
- Bellini: Italian restaurant in Coconut Grove with good food and beautiful views.
- Neya: best modern kosher restaurant in Miami.
- Avra: stunning Greek/Mediterranean restaurant in Sunny Isles, when I’m craving fresh fish and seafood.
- Eating House: modern Miami cuisine in Coral Gables.
- Klaw: I know it is a steakhouse, but they have the best crab I have ever tasted.
- Ushi: I’m not usually a fan of a chain restaurant, but they offer elevated, nontraditional Japanese cuisine that is consistently good.
- Cote: Michelin-starred Korean steakhouse in the Design District.
- Maas: Michelin-starred restaurant that I will drive to Ft. Lauderdale for. Inside the Four Seasons hotel, they serve a la carte or excellent tasting menus of contemporary American cuisine.
- The Katherine: another Ft. Lauderdale favourite by chef Timon Balloo, serving a global and eclectic menu.
- Sereia: a modern seafood-forward restaurant inspired by the Iberian Coast, in Coconut Grove.
- Kyu: so happy they are back.
- Perl: an Aventura institution.
- Miami Slice: great pies if you don’t mind standing in line.
- LPM: bringing the French Riviera to the heart of Miami.
- Zitz Sum: a wonderful Bib Gourmand of Asian-inspired dishes (worth driving to Coral Gables for).
