Meet Shanea

From dives to fine dining, street art to vernissages, boutique hotels to grand dames, farmer's markets to gastronomic food halls, join me on my adventures in finding the hottest to the hautest.
As a Canadian, I focus mainly on my hometown of Toronto and my second home in Miami, also journeying frequently to New York and Italy, but nothing is off-limits for me. My love for food has led me here, to share all things I savour – and I will continue to search out the best and most impresssive, highlight culinary excellence, with dishes that inspire me and regional specialties, feature art, hotels, and current trends, and offer my experience on where to roam, where to stay and where to dine all over the world.

Where are you off to?

We finally made it to Richmond Station after a few years. The chef Carl Heinrich was the winner of season two on Canada's Top Chef. He took his winnings and opened Richmond Station at 1 West Richmond Street.

We just finished a marvelous stay of 5 nights at Claridges. The common rooms of the hotel are magnificent. We experienced High Tea which was a treat. However at 74 pounds it becomes exceedingly expensive once you do the conversion.

Zarafa Camp was nothing short of magical. Located in 320,000 acres with only 4 tents you can imagine the kind of personalized level of service you get.

We were overwhelmed with the beauty and detail of this fabulous city resort. Everything from the grounds, the art work, the pool and restaurants were first rate. Our room was unbelievable.

One of my favorite places to eat in New York last year was a charming West Village Italian Restaurant called Via Carota. It is located on 51 Grove St.

I didn’t know what to expect as I had not been to Punta Mita before. I know the resort was over 16 years old. Well I was not disappointed. The grounds are magnificent, with lush foliage, and wonderful sculptures throughout.

One block from Barney's and the shops on Madison Ave. and 2 1/2 blocks from Bloomingdale's. Close to some wonderful restaurants as well. The newly renovated hotel looks great, with some of the largest bedrooms in New York.

We have stayed at the J.K. Place Capri since the second year it has been opened. The hotel is still exquisite. It is like Ralph Lauren does Italy. We feel like we are staying at someone's private Palazzo on the sea. The views are magnificent.

Every luxe hotel in Rome better pull up their boot straps because this gem is trumping all the competition.

Yonge and Summerhill is full of cute little neighbourhood restaurants. A favourite of mine is Quanto Basta. It is a small narrow room with a tiny kitchen and bar as part of the action. The owner and servers are friendly and make you feel like you are eating in their home.

Le Zoo restaurant by Stephen Starr finally opened at Ba Harbour Shops, replacing Le Goulue. It is a French Brasserie with Mediterranean style dishes.
