Discover Giorgina, one of Miami’s latest and most enchanting destinations in the vibrant Wynwood district, 2700 North Miami Avenue. Transforming the previous space, Mexico-based hospitality group Groupo Mandolina has unveiled a lavish 4,500-square-foot venue capable of hosting up to 130 patrons. Boasting an aesthetic reminiscent of the Lemon Tree or Da Paolina in Capri, Italy, Giorgina offers a captivating atmosphere.

Immerse yourself in the ambiance of this space, adorned with a ceiling featuring over 5,000 lemons and interwoven vines (although in Capri, the lemons are real). The setting includes arched windows, herringbone wooden floors, contemporary white chairs, and stripped tablecloths, complemented by white and yellow pillows. The custom china plates further enhance the overall charm.

Under the guidance of chef consultant Federico Tischler and executive chef Hector Caspiro, Giorgina’s menu showcases coastal Italian fare with a delightful twist. From crudos and a curated selection of appetizers to enticing salads, pizzettes, fresh pasta, and protein options. The dining experience is a journey of flavours through Italy.

In all honesty, while Giorgina‘s culinary creations may not quite rival the preparation and quality of Da Paolina, it still presents a respectable dining experience. One highlight was the special offering of a cacio e pepe pizza that delighted with abundant cheesiness. However, I was not a fan of the shrimp crudo, bearing a slightly fishy taste, and was served excessively cold.

On the brighter side, the Giorgina salad, featuring lightly grilled baby gem lettuce, pine nuts, and Parmesan dressing was most agreeable. The crispy brussel sprouts, served on strachiatella with balsamic, were an excellent rendition. The namesake Giorgina pasta, a spaghettini with lemon served in a lemon-adorned bowl fell short of my expectations. The organic chicken Milanese was pleasant but failed to leave a lasting impression. The branzino served for two, was the catch of the day and did not disappoint. The sides were noteworthy, ranging from mixed organic roasted vegetables to delectable wild mushrooms. House-made desserts round out the menu, with a pistachio soft serve with halva offering a sweet salty experience, albeit not surpassing alternatives at places like Ciprianni, Casa Tua, Bellini, and Forte Dei Marmi.

A standout choice, was the key lime pie with Italian meringue, delivering a deliciously memorable finale. The bar excels in crafting creative cocktails using fresh seasonal ingredients and spirits, while the restaurant boasts a commendable selection of wines.

Under the capable management of JC, who embodies hospitality expertise, Giorgina successfully welcomes and makes patrons feel special. The establishment gains momentum, drawing in a stylish and beautiful crowd, particularly as the night unfolds. Undoubtedly, Giorgina is carving its place as one of Miami’s “it places”.

Happy dining,

Shanea
