A promising addition to Wynwood’s culinary scene, Oise Ristorante has emerged as a pop-up gem that seems destined for a permanent presence. Situated at 2335 North Miami Avenue within the Oasis in Wynwood, this innovative Italian-Japanese concept, known as Itameshi, is the brainchild of acclaimed chef Brad Kilgore, a James Beard nominee and finalist, and his partner Andrew Mayer of the OG Hospitality Group.

Itameshi fuses traditional elements of Italian and Japanese cuisine, with Kilgore curating a captivating menu. Mayer, inspired by his discovery of Itameshi cuisine on a trip to California, was determined to bring this unique concept to Miami. Nestled within the OG Hospitality Food Hall, located in the expansive Oasis- a multifaceted space blending bar, music venue, and food hall, Oasis joins the ranks of other notable eateries like Poke OG, a Japanese omakase and Miss Crispy Rice.

The industrial, casual, minimalist ambiance of the food hall with its counter service sets the stage for a casual, yet surprising dining experience. Oise has recently started accepting reservations on Resy, a convenient addition. Whether you choose to dine inside or in the courtyard, the restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere with swift service, surpassing expectations for a typical pop-up.

The menu accessible through a QR code or traditional plasticized menus, caters to various preferences. Notable dishes include inventive creations like cacio e pepe breadsticks with a peppercorn miso Alfredo dipping sauce, or a prosciutto and burrata topped with an umeboshi plum and shiso pesto, with a side of grilled bread. Or a chicken parm katsu sando, featuring dashi brined chicken, smoked mozzarella, and umami pomodoro. The udon carbonara with black truffles and toasted sesame seeds, or a shiso leaf-wrapped tuna nigiri with chili ponzu, crispy garlic, chili oil, and a sizable meatball were also a highlight.

Chef Kilgore’s Pizza Freak Company introduces pizza to Oise’s repertoire, marking the first time he serves it in a restaurant. For dessert, the kakigori with dark cherry shaved ice atop pistachio gelato is a delightful choice. Complementing the culinary offerings are sake slushies and a reasonable and diverse selection of sake, wine, and beers. If you’re seeking an exploration of imaginative flavours without breaking the bank, coupled with quick, friendly service and an affordable price point, Oise is a good bet.

Happy dining,

Shanea
