My preferred brunch destination in Miami is Rosie’s, led by the husband and wife team, chef Akino West, who honed his skills at renowned establishments such as Noma in Copenhagen and under Michael Schwartz in Miami. Alongside him is his accomplished wife, Jamila Ross West, a skilled chef in her own right, with experience at the SLS in LA and Miami Beach under Jose Andres.

What began as a pop-up during the challenging times of COVID-19, has blossomed into a success story, evolving from different venues, an outdoor spot to its new place in Little River, boasting delectable Southern comfort cuisine. Nestled at 162 NW 73rd Street, this new locale and its diverse menu showcase a range of dishes from deviled eggs, and pastrami hash, to shrimp and grits, lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberry compote, chicken and waffles, and buttermilk biscuits. The menu gracefully adapts to seasonal availability, ensuring a fresh and varied dining experience.

Despite a few relocation’s, Rosie’s has maintained a devoted following. The fare is hearty and satisfying, with classic dishes prepared simply and perfectly. The addition of vegetable-forward options caters to diverse tastes. The new venue now offers ample indoor air-conditioned seating, complemented by a small front patio. The ambiance is casual, laid back, and enjoyable, though the minimalist decor and limitation of a single bathroom for the entire space are notable considerations.

The welcoming and friendly staff, along with regular patrons, contribute to the inviting atmosphere. Chef Akino’s commitment to sourcing locally guarantees the use of high-quality ingredients.

The beverage program is well thought out, including cocktails like mimosas, Aperol spritz, and margaritas, alongside a beer assortment, various bubbles, and a concise wine selection. You can bring your own wine in for a nominal fee. Non-alcoholic, zero ABV options, such as a seasonal lemonade, Jamaican hibiscus, and pina colada cater to diverse preferences. A delightful array of coffees and teas are also available.

To conclude the meal on a sweet note, Rosie’s offers three enticing desserts: on our visit, a fabulous apple hand pie with a cinnamon glaze and almond cream, a delightful creamsicle cheesecake with graham cracker crust, Meyer lemon honey, topped with candied blood orange slices, and a PB&J cookie featuring raspberry jam and Maldon salt.

Rosie’s now operates exclusively as a breakfast/brunch destination, welcoming guests Friday through Sunday, 9am to 3pm. Ample street parking adds to the convenience, making Rosie’s a must-visit for those seeking the best breakfast and brunch offerings in Miami.

Recommended.

Happy dining,
