C Suite is an exclusive speakeasy tucked away on the second floor at 126A Cumberland Street in Toronto. It is a hidden gem reminiscent of a vintage-era cocktail train car, akin to the Orient Express. Stepping into this covert establishment that is about to celebrate its one-year anniversary, one encounters barman Albert Han and his apprentice Yuan Fei, ready to orchestrate an unparalleled cocktail journey. The ambiance transformed from the former Jacques Bistro, boasts a narrow room adorned with dim lighting, a floor dressed in blue and white ceramic tiles, and accented with plush blue velvet couches and chairs complimented with brass fittings. Mirrors line the walls, reflecting the cool blend of old-world charm with a modern vibe. The discreet entry, devoid of any signage, creates an air of exclusivity, much like entering a clandestine den.
Reservations are a must, and upon being discreetly buzzed in, patrons are ushered into an intimate setting exuding an air of privacy and distinction. Whether it is a prelude to dinner or a late-night cap, C Suite offers an eclectic experience. Guests opting for the “Bar Experience “, can savor custom, bespoke cocktails tailored to their preferences, a symphony of flavors crafted with finesse to match individual tastes. Alternatively, settling in the lounge, patrons can peruse a menu of signature or classic cocktails, along with an extensive whiskey and bourbon selection.
The attentive and amiable staff effortlessly guides guests through their journey, offering suggestions while nibbling on complimentary truffle chips and a small pour of Prosecco. The menu showcases inventive artisanal concoctions with names like Cafe Cumberland, Rabbit Hole, and Spice Space Mule, exposing the bar’s creativity and innovation. While the bar experience might come at a slightly higher cost, starting at approximately $40 for a tailored drink, the lounge offers drinks on the menu that cap at around $35.
Complimenting the libations, the menu offers six snack items curated by renowned local chefs. Our indulgence included the Roulade au Foie Gras with black truffles nestled in organic chicken, the flounder with ponzu and wasabi, and the intriguing duck carpaccio. While these dishes delighted the palate, the miso cod fell short, its texture being on the mushy side.
In summary, C Suite offers a haven of relaxation within a bustling city serene sanctuary perfect for a romantic rendezvous, post-work unwind, or a pre or post-dinner escape. Their prowess lies not only in crafting exquisite cocktails but also in delivering exceptional hospitality, creating an experience that transcends mere bar service. It is open six nights a week, so closed on Tuesdays.
