Unscripted Bal Harbour was founded in 2013. A public art program of the City of Bal Harbour, it supports the arts in South Florida and further positions Bal Harbour as a cultural destination. With annual art chats and private tours of Miami’s top museums, private collections and cultural destinations, exclusive for all Bal Harbour residents, Unscripted facilitates a critical dialogue while making contemporary art accessible to Bal Harbour residents and their guests.
I decided to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity and I chose to visit the private art collection of Attorney Alan Kruger and his wife Judge Amy Dean. Their collection ranges from contemporary Latin American Art from the Brazilian Neo-Concrete movement (1959-1961) to contemporary installations. The hosts were very generous to open their beautiful apartment and to curate their eclectic collection to us. Their large home, formerly owned by celebrity musicians Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, is a sanctuary for their art collection, and doesn’t shy away from politics or social commentary.
