On the 23rd floor of the Hotel Okura, is Ciel Bleu, one of only two, 2-star Michelin restaurants in Amsterdam.

If you are looking for white glove service in an elegant restaurant, with gorgeous views of the city and haute cuisine, you won’t go wrong with this special occasion restaurant.

From the moment you enter you know you are in for an unforgettable evening and real dining experience. Expect to spend 3-4 hours here. The service is very formal and very choreographed. But I didn’t find the staff snobby, on the contrary they were helpful with suggestions, as was the wonderful sommelier. You can choose between a la carte or set menus.

Make sure to request a window seat, the views are wrap around wall to wall windows. Even though the restaurant is quite large it still feels intimate as the tables were well spaced.

The food was very refined with layers of complexity. It is classic French cuisine but with a twist. For instance the appetizer Tom Yam had edible paper. The actual dishes are gorgeous as are the apparatus they use to pour your infusions- very gastronomic, and very adventurous presentations. If you are a foodie you will love the sophistication and the artistry.

The cheese trolley was one of my favorite courses, the selection as good as any three star restaurant in France.

If you are looking for a place to dress up, that has stylish decor, flawless service and impeccable food, I can highly recommend Ciel Bleu. It is one of Amsterdam’s most prized eateries. Pure Poetry with modern cooking in s luxurious setting.

Happy dining,

Shanea
